Pere Lluís Biosca

Considered one of the most prominent Catalan vocal ensemble conductors, Pere Lluís Biosca has a busy career as a conductor and choral conducting teacher. He studied in Barcelona with Mireia Barrera, Josep Vila and Pierre Cao, and in Helsinki with Matti Hyökki. His discography focuses on Catalan Baroque composers; Mir i Llussà and Tomàs Milans with the vocal ensemble La Xantria, and Joan Cererols with the Chamber Choir Francesc Valls.

He regularly takes part in festivals and concert series, conducting repertoire ranging from the Renaissance period to contemporary music. Until 2016 he led the ARSinNOVA Chamber Choir of Barcelona, which received the Spanish National Choral Singing Award (Gijón 2013). As a guest conductor (2015) at the Orfeó Català Girls Choir he offered several concerts dedicated to the music of Arvo Pärt, receiving advice from the composer himself. He has also worked in productions at the Liceu Opera House, preparing the choral parts of various operas.

Currently, he is the music director of the Cor de Cambra Francesc Valls at the Barcelona Cathedral and also conducts the Cor Madrigal de Barcelona. He is professor of choral conducting at the Taller de Músics School of Higher Education.
