Programme

Introducing the 4th Choral Conducting Summer Course, to be held in Barcelona in July 2023.

In 2019, the FCEC and the SCIC decided to join forces to create a summer course based on two main ideas. First of all, the idea was to create a different framework from the regular courses run by both organisations: an intensive summer course that offers a new space for people to enhance their skills in choral conducting, open to both beginners and conductors with experience. And secondly, the goal was to bring together enough resources to create a multi-faceted course, a course that allows each student to choose their area of specialisation adapted to their level, while also offering joint sessions to help students expand their knowledge across all areas of conducting and choir types in the choral world.

The course offers two levels focused on mixed choir conducting, and two levels focused on conducting children’s choirs. This year we are very excited to welcome Ragnar Rasmussen (NOR) and Dénes Szabó (HU) as teachers for the advanced levels of mixed choirs and children’s choirs respectively. The mid-level groups will be taught, as always, by the course’s artistic team: Elisenda Carrasco (children’s choirs) and Pere Lluís Biosca and Jordi Lluch (mixed choirs). All groups will have a rehearsal choir and repertoire pianist. The course also offers a beginner level open to anyone who wants to start conducting choirs, whether mixed choirs or children’s choirs.

In addition, the course will feature workshops and open sessions on specific topics related to choral singing.

After the success of the previous three summer courses, we are looking forward to welcoming you to the fourth year of the course!
